Safety & Security

Security is an important part of your experience and your child's experience in Discovery Town. Security for your child is implemented at our computerzied check-in stations and through our screening process all of our volunteers.

All children (infants through 5th grade) will need to visit one of our computerized check-in stations located in the Breezeway or Planter Area. At this point the child will received a nametag with a unique 3 digit security code and the parents will will receive a security tag with the corresponding code. The computer will print one security tag per family. During pick-up time the adult family member will present the security tag to the teacher who will verify the child's number before releasing the child.

Each child is required to be escorted by a parent or guardian to their class and must be picked up by a parent/guardian who will present the "security tag" to the teacher.

Guests will go to the same area to check in. They will be asked to complete a Guest Information Form, will received a gift, and get their security/nametags.

For children 2 and under:

• The security sytem can also print individual item tags for diaper bags, bottles, etc.
• Each family will be assigned a vibrating pager. The pagers will be used to alert the families that their child needs their immediate attention.

Promotion Time

• Kids in Nursery through Sr High will be promoting to their new classes in June of each year.
• Kids in elementary will promote to their next grade.
• Kids in Nursery through 5 years old (but not in Kindergarten) will promote to their next class if they turn the next age by September 30 of each year..
